Lake Erie Metropark runs along three miles of the massive lake's shore, encompassing more than 1,600 acres of day-use recreational land. Access to the water is provided via a boat ramp and a marina, and fishers can also cast lines from the shore. Other areas of the park include an 18-hole golf course, the Marshlands Museum and Nature Center, a small wave pool, sports fields and miles of hiking and cross-country skiing trails. Set on the western tip of the lake, 27 miles south of Detroit, the closest town to the park is Rockwood.
